Thoughts For 50 - Pages 1-50 Of Falling By Jane Green

Eight years ago, Emma Montague left behind the strict confines—and rather dull boyfriend—of her upper-crust English life and moved to New York City, where she immediately found success in finance. But her soulless, cutthroat, all-consuming job was another life she didn’t want.

Answering an ad on Craigslist, Emma finds a tiny beach cottage in the small town of Westport, Connecticut. It needs work—lots of work. But it’s the perfect project to satisfy Emma’s passion for interior design and gardening, if her new landlord, Dominic, is agreeable to the small changes she yearns to make.

To Emma, Dominic himself is somewhat of a fixer-upper. A local handyman with a six-year-old son, he’s a world away from the men she should be interested in, but he’s comfortable in his own skin, confident, quiet, and kind. And slowly, over a shared garden, time spent with his son, and late-night conversations, Emma finds herself falling for Dominic...

From friends to lovers happens as naturally as the changing seasons. But setting down roots doesn’t come easily when two lives as different as their own merge into one. And Emma will realize that the seeds of happiness must be nurtured and cherished to grow into something strong enough to shelter all their hopes and dreams...

Laura's Thoughts
I am absolutely gutted that we agreed to read just 50 pages of this book every weekend until we finish it, I have never read 50 pages so quick and easy in my life.

I love the way Jane Green literally starts this book with the back story of Emma and a meeting between the two main characters, Emma and Dominic I already feel so invested in this relationship! The friendship between Emma and Sophie is so realistic that I find myself smirking at the situations they have already found themselves in, I can actually imagine me and Jen in the same situations, I might even use some of Sophie's tricks to find Jen a man.

I cannot wait till next weekend now to see what happens next!

Jen's Thoughts
Well it was straight in with the couples’ first meeting, no messing about from Jane Green. Our hero and heroine are getting on like a house on fire; Dominic is even building her bookshelves. I love him already. There is a problem, he has a girlfriend and already I don’t like her. So far I want to read more, but reviewing it every fifty pages makes for steady reading and good things come to those who wait.

Laura Predicts
  • Gina, Dominic's girlfriend is going to get paranoid and jealous over Emma and break up because Dominic will begin to see right through her
  • Emma and Dominic will fall out because she is planning on ripping his grandparents house apart to renovate it and at the moment he seems adamant to keep it the way it is.
  • Something is going to happen between Emma and Jesse either fixing the relationship between Dominic and Emma or ripping it apart
Jen Predicts
  • Sophie and her husband will go through marital problems
  • Gina will become a jealous bitch and hopefully get dumped
  • Dominic and Emma will fall out over house renovations, well he is the landlord
  • Emma will babysit Jesse and something will go wrong
  • Both Emma and Dominic will regret a night of passion
  • They will get together at the end
